I am just settling in here. I am a l;title homesick, but it has been a fun few days. On Friday I filmed my first scene with Gerard Butler. The scene takes place in a car going back to the hospital. They put the car on a trailer and pulled it with a truck. Gerry pretended to be steering the car. There were cameras and sound equipment all around the car on the outside! There were even people hanging off the trailer trying to focus the camera. In the car was me, Gerard Butler, Mark Williams (The director) and Shelly Johnson (The Cinematographer). The filming took about 4 hours just for the one scene of 3 lines. It went very well!
On Saturday, I had the weekend off to explore Toronto. I went to the Ontario Science Centre. Gerry wanted to go too, so we went with him. He is a really nice guy and he's very smart and likes science like me! I think I have been spoiled by The Museum of Science and Industry, because I think MSI is cooler. But it was fun to spend the day with Gerry.
On Sunday my mom and I tried to find a hat that didn't itch my BALD HEAD!!!!!!!!! We found a few. We also found a cool comic book store.
This week is a busy week. I got to meet the girl who plays my younger sister. She's really nice. She reminds me of Sam a little. I have testing for the camera with my wigs (I have two of them), I go to school everyday, and on Thursday and Friday I have a lot of filming to do. I am excited to get home for Halloween on Saturday. I hope I see some of you then!!!
Love, Max
Hi Max! Thanks for describing the scene in the car. I never thought about the car being up on a trailer. It must be strange at times to pretend to be having a private conversation when there are so many extra people surrounding you.
ReplyDeleteToronto is a nice area. I was there once for a Toronto Blue Jays game and to visit the CN Tower. I didn't have a chance to see the science center (but it sounds like I'm not missing too much).
Your hat/bald head comment made me laugh! Do you have to shave it a lot? Happy to hear you get to come home for Halloween. Safe travels, and please keep writing!

Hi Max, thanks for the update, sounds like fun. Hope you are having lots of fun. Can't wait to see you again.
ReplyDeleteHello Max! I hope that you are enjoying the time both discovering Toronto and in the film. It is hard to believe that three lines would take 4 hours. Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling us about Toronto, it seems amazing! Your "sister" really does look a lot like Sam! I hope Halloweens weather is good this year, so we can go trick or treating. You can come to my Halloween block party if you come back in time, Sophia and Lily will be there. Hope filming goes well!
ReplyDeletehi. that looks fun to be in that movie that you are making! from maddy :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's a cinematographer? I've never heard of one before. Was it weird to be in a car with all that equipment? I think it would be. Will you go back to Toronto after a little while to film more? I hope we see you if you're going back soon!
ReplyDeleteA cinematographer is the person who is responsible for the camera and setting up all the shots. They are also known as Director of Photography or DP.
DeleteWe miss you so much, Max! Miss Parsons owes Alex $10 because of book Alex found that they bet on. I want to see that happen! Keep writing and keep having fun!
ReplyDeleteHow is it going in Toronto? I wish I could be there! We have started the geography bee and it is so easy! we will pick it up tomorrow, and if I get to the finals, I will be so nervous! I already am! Things are going along fine, but the whole school is being struck hard by the stomach flu. Five kids were out today! I hope I don't get it, but I think I won't because I had it a couple summers ago. Did you bring your trumpet to Toronto, because otherwise you are going to have a hard time catching up in band. Bye!
